General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
What is GDPR?
In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), introduced by the European Union, will come into effect. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the result of 4 years of work by EU member states to address new data threats. As compared with the Data Protection Act, it introduces stiffer fines for companies which are not compliant and gives consumers greater control over the ways in which their personal data is being used. In addition, it makes these new protection rules consistent throughout the EU.
